Q. Where can I get to where I want to be?

A. The Royal Agricultural University

Food Supply and Management

Everyone has to eat, and the agri-food sector is booming – worth around £97 billion and employing more than 3.5 million people in the UK alone. The sector is also the key to providing safe foods in an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable manner to a growing world population on an ever decreasing cultivatable land footprint.

Our course aims to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead this industry; either from within a large corporation, or through your own entrepreneurial business start-up. You will graduate with a food degree that is focussed towards your own interests and career aspirations; whether that is as a buyer of sustainable food ingredients, a quality or technical manager, a government adviser on food policy, or the CEO of your own food business.

Business and Enterprise

If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, or you are keen on developing a successful career in business or agribusiness, then studying an undergraduate business degree at the RAU is the right choice for you. You will be taught by academics who are experts in their subject area, and bring their industry experience and research in to the classroom to ensure you develop the knowledge and skills that industry is looking for. The University also runs an award-winning Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Programme, which has supported many students in starting and growing their own successful businesses.

All of our students undertake a work placement as part of their programme, and all of our honours degrees have dual accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), so in addition to your degree you will receive a separate qualification from the Institute.

Equine Management and Science

With around 100 equine degrees in the UK and Southern Ireland why should you choose RAU? After 25 years of experience we have discovered that a mixed approach to education produces the most employable and dynamic graduates. As such our courses deliver a blend of equine science and business along with agriculture based subject matter. In place of practical modules in equitation and horse management we instead deliver transferable skills in science and business and a 20 week industry placement. This will better equip our students for managerial positions at feed companies such as Dengie, bloodstock and equestrian accountants including Smith and Williamson and laboratories such as Plusvital Equinome.

Our courses are delivered by a team of research active and industry linked staff with decades of teaching experience between them. Overall, the Centre of Equine Management and Science offers a unique learning ecosystem which will support and nurture any career aspirations in the global equine sector.
