DAY 1 Fly to Jakarta
DAY 2 Jakarta On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel .
DAY 3 Jakarta / Bandung
Travel to the Bogor Botanical Gardens , home to a huge variety of trees , palms , bamboo , plants and orchids . Drive on to Bandung , which is surrounded by volcanoes and mountains ( approx 120 miles / 3½ hours drive ).
DAY 4 Bandung
Head north to visit Lembang fruit and vegetable market . Climb higher to the rim of Gunung Tangkuban Perahu , a volcanic crater which , on clear days , offers amazing valley views . Also visit a vast tea plantation and a natural hot spring in Ciater .
DAY 5 Bandung / Purwokerto
Begin with a visit to Naga Village , a traditional West Javan village with houses built on stilts . Observe the simple way of life here and how the villagers work the terraces by hand . Travel onwards to Purwokerto ( approx 165 miles / 7 hours drive ).
DAY 6 Purwokerto / Yogyakarta
Pass vivid rice terraces before a steep climb up to the Dieng Plateau , a mysterious world of swirling mists , Hindu temple ruins , hot geysers , bubbling mud and sulphurous lakes . Late this afternoon visit Borobudur , one of the world ’ s most famous Buddhist temples before heading to fascinating Yogyakarta ( approx 78 miles / 4 hours drive ).

DAY 7 Yokyakarta
Start with a tour of the Sultan ’ s Palace , which dates from 1755 and has exquisite , ornately decorated pavilions . See some of Yogyakarta ’ s skilled craftsmen at work before a “ Wayang Kulit ” shadow puppet performance and visit to Prambanan temple . The rest of the day is at leisure .
DAY 8 Yokyakarta / Malang Travel to East Java ( approx 100 miles / 5 hours drive ).
DAY 9 Malang / Bromo
Morning at leisure . After lunch , explore the colonial town of Malang . Visit the Chinese Temple , Bird Market and Ceramic Cinoyo before driving to Sukapura Village on the slopes of Mount Bromo ( approx 32 miles / 4 hours drive ).
DAY 10 Bromo / Kalibaru
Early morning wake up call for a trip to see the spectacular sunrise ( subject to weather ). Ensure you have some warm clothing , as you will be over 6,500 feet above sea level then set off by jeep and ascend the mountain for a moonlit view of the Bromo caldera . Once it ’ s light you ’ ll drive down to the crater floor , which is known as the “ sand sea ” with its desert-like terrain . Stopping at the foot of Mount Bromo either walk the 245 steps to the top ( or alternatively , hire a horse - extra cost ) and look down into bubbling water , ash and sulphur inside the crater . Return to the hotel for breakfast before departing to Kalibaru ( approx 106 miles / 5 hours drive ).
DAY 11 Kalibaru / Bali
Take a short plantation tour around the villages and drive to Ketapang for the ferry across the Bali strait ( approx 44 miles / 2 hour drive and 1 hour by ferry ). The tour concludes with your onward journey . Alternatively , why not extend your stay at one of our beach hotels ?

DAY 3 Ubud / Candidasa
Visit Besakih , Bukit Jambul , Goa Lawah ( Bat Cave ) and Kusamba Village before arriving at the beach resort of Candidasa which overlooks the Lombok Strait ( approx 45 miles / 2 hours drive ).
DAY 4 Candidasa
Morning at leisure . Visit Tenganan , continue to Putung Hill for the view over Padang Bay and the Karangasem Water Palace ( approx 35 miles / 1½ hours drive ).
DAY 5 Candidasa / Bali beach hotel
