Gunung Mulu National Park

The jewel in Sarawak’ s crown
Sarawak’ s premier national park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of nature’ s most spectacular achievements and recently featured on David Attenborough’ s Planet Earth series. Lying deep below the forest canopy and under the watchful gaze of Gunung Mulu, one of the park’ s three mountains, are the world’ s largest limestone cave system. Its four show caves( Wind, Clearwater, Deer and Lang) are all accessible by wooden walkways and paths, with strategically positioned spotlights highlighting unique geological features including stalagmites and stalactites. Hang around until dusk and, if the weather is fine, you’ ll be treated to the bat exodus, when millions of bats stream and swoop out of Deer Cave in search of food. It’ s quite the performance! Get a bird’ s eye view of the dense vegetation, towering trees and tranquil rivers by stepping out on the gently swaying Mulu Canopy Skywalk, one of the world’ s longest tree-based canopy walks. Keen explorers can take a challenging trek to see the mystical Pinnacles, a series of jagged limestone karsts with razor-like peaks lying halfway up the slopes of Gunung Api.
