Sustainable travel
. Big enough to depend on. Small enough to care
Sustainable travel
Travel is a luxury, to which we all aspire. However, we recognise that there are mounting pressures to be aware of our individual carbon footprints. Whilst some might consider that this precludes travel by air, others will feel that, by travelling responsibly, they can still enjoy the enrichment of experiencing new countries and their cultures, but, at the same time, give something back to those communities visited.
As a travel company, you won’ t be surprised that we think there is a middle ground. Many airlines now implement measures that minimise harmful emissions, plus we are also happy to offer alternative means of travelling from A to B – for example, some trains or ships can provide a much more relaxing experience.
The majority of our featured properties have a variety of sustainability initiatives in place, including solar power, composting, plastic-free policies and using locally-sourced food within their restaurants. Some are also locally owned or support their community with an array of schemes. In addition, a selection of our properties are eco-lodges or similar and have been highlighted with the logo shown above.
Whilst planning activities at your holiday destination, there are often ways to experience local life without using motorised transport – for example, walking tours give a much more immersive experience into local life and a cycle tour can offer you the opportunity to get to places which a coach can’ t reach.
We recognise that everyone makes these choices daily and we’ re more than happy to talk to you about destinations, accommodation and activities, which will enable you to travel smarter.
