Thailand- Phuket
Phuket
Fabulous beaches and a wide choice of hotels
Hailed as the Jewel of the Andaman Sea, renowned Phuket is Thailand’ s largest island and a firm favourite with holidaymakers of all ages.
Its broad appeal is due to its soft sandy beaches, inviting warm water, majestic mountains and lush undulating rainforest which intermingles with family-friendly resorts, luxurious hideaways and superb shopping, dining and entertainment.
Lively Patong is the island’ s busiest resort and with a colourful neon-lit nightlife, exciting activities, tempting eateries and shopping galore, it’ s very much a place to party and play. South of Patong are the slightly quieter Karon and Kata, known for their swathes of sands and excellent snorkelling complemented by beachside promenades and restaurants; while on the sheltered south east coast you’ ll find tranquil Panwa Bay and its array of first-class eateries. Lying north of Patong, Kamala Beach is a serene place to escape the crowds and ease into the relaxed pace of life.
Bang Tao Bay’ s four mile stretch of west coast beach is peppered with Phuket’ s most exclusive resorts and villas, including those within the acclaimed Laguna Phuket Resort. With a couple of beach clubs, great golf and dozens of places to dine and drink it’ s truly top-notch. On Phuket’ s northwest coast is Mai Khao, which as part of the Sirinat National Park, remains blessedly undeveloped.
Take a break from the beach to glimpse the iconic Big Buddha or visit charming Phuket Old Town with its brightly painted shophouses, grand colonial mansions, museums, shops and quirky cafes. Phuket is also a great base for exploring the glorious scenery and paradise islands of Phang Nga Bay, the ethereal Similan Islands and Phi Phi’ s idyllic beaches.
