Mahé is also home to the capital, Victoria, which brims with history and Creole character as well as lots of delightful nooks and crannies to explore. The second largest island, Praslin, is a laid back delight of exquisite sands and tropical forests carpeting the hills. Its striking beaches include Anse Lazio, which is widely acclaimed to be the most beautiful beach on earth, so definitely worth a visit! The island is also a haven for nature lovers and at the UNESCO listed Vallee de Mai, you can see where the famous Coco de Mer grows. On the granite island of La Digue the bicycle still holds sway and sun worshippers can idle away endless days on picture-perfect sands. It’ s also a sanctuary for the rare paradise flycatcher bird, and at Veuve Nature Reserve you can wander gentle trails whilst keeping watch. Silhouette Island, which is the archipelago’ s third largest, is an untouched gem of valleys and gullies, rugged cliffs, primeval forest, meandering rivers and bewitching beaches encircled by a protected coral reef. Denis Island’ s nature walks and activities will appeal to those seeking seclusion in comfort, with its glimmering beaches just made for soaking up the tropical sun and sparkling sea.

Getting there: Flights from the UK to Mahé take around 13 hours via the Middle East. Praslin is an hour by ferry from Mahé or a 20 minute flight, while La Digue is about 90 minutes by ferry from Mahé( via Praslin). Denis Island is a 30 minute flight from Mahé and Silhouette Island is 45 minutes by boat from Mahé.
Best time to go: Seychelles has average temperatures of 27 ° C so it’ s great beach weather all year. October-April is generally calmer at sea and from May-September it feels less humid with sea breezes. April-May & Oct-November are the best times for snorkelling and diving. Tropical showers may fall at any time of the year.
