The Middle East- Dubai
Burj Khalifa

Dubai

A sun-soaked metropolis like no other
This former small Gulf trading centre has transformed into one of the world’ s essential travel destinations bragging architectural wonders, extravagant hotels, a superb culinary scene, beautiful beaches, striking desert and so much more. To glimpse the Dubai of yesteryear, head to Deira, where on Dubai Creek ancient dhows ply the busy waters and atmospheric maze-like souks hum with activity and bargaining banter. Here also, is The Viewing Point, an observation deck, serving up panoramic views of the magical Creek with a stunning skyline backdrop. In must-visit Downtown Dubai, crane your neck skywards to take in the world’ s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. If you have a head for heights, whizz up to its observation decks for staggering city and beyond views. If you’ d rather keep your feet firmly on terra firma, watch water dance at the Dubai Fountains which lie in the shadows of the Burj Khalifa. For shopping, entertainment and leisure, look no further than the vast Dubai Mall or, for an evening of culture, Dubai Opera is the city’ s premier performing arts space and sits opposite Burj Lake. Nearby is the Museum of the Future for nextgeneration science and innovation, plus the Dubai Frame, an architectural landmark in Zabeel Park which sits between old and new Dubai with panoramic views of both. For a beach base, Jumeirah is probably your go-to spot with nine miles of coastline, swanky hotels, a thriving café scene, chic malls by the sea, private beach clubs and the Wild Wadi Waterpark. There is also a stunning waterfront promenade, Marsa Al Arab Walk, lined with restaurants, while just off Jumeirah Beach is Pearl Jumeira with a host of suburban perks. Nearby Jumeirah Beach Residence( also known as JBR), which sits back from the sand, also has an array of hotels, plenty of shopping options and delicious dining from Michelin-star to casual eats. The area is particularly buzzing after dark, so be sure to take a stroll along the pedestrianised JBR Walk or JBR Beach. Linked by a pedestrian bridge, Bluewaters Dubai lies at the far end of JBR, and has the record-breaking Ain Dubai observation wheel as its centrepiece. There are also glamorous hotels, family-friendly leisure activities and more than 200 retail and dining concepts.
