Contents Cover by Stephen Briggs Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1955, Steve received his first formal art training at the age of eight when his father enrolled him in art classes at the Wm. H. Gephardt School of Fine Art in Cincinnati, Ohio. For the next ten years he would attend various art classes until, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1979. Family and friends encouraged him to pursue a career in art. Steve enrolled in the prestigious Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio in the fall of 1979 where he was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 1983. Steve’s illustrations have appeared in magazines and on book covers. His clients include Panama Jack, Charisma Magazine, Ministries Today Magazine, Disney/Epcot, Universal Studios Florida, Orlando Magazine, and his paintings are in numerous private collections. Most recently, Steve’s illustrations have appeared on the cover of a series of books, The Living Stone and Blades of War by MB Mooney. He has started a third cover for The Fire Reborn also by MB Mooney. Steve has worked as a graphic designer, art director, freelance illustrator, faux finisher, color consultant and mural artist. In December of 2013 Stephen graduated from The University of Memphis with a 3.9 GPA and was awarded a Master of Arts in Teaching. He lives in Selmer, Tennessee with his wife and children. He is currently working as a Special Education teacher at North Side High School in Jackson, TN.
