Fanwood Students Perform at NAD Conference
As part of the 54th Biennial NAD Conference, the Connecticut
Association of the Deaf hosted an “ASL Rocks!” event, to wrap up
the weekend. Performances were focused on commemorating the
impact ASL has had on inspiring a culture and unifying the Deaf
Community.
Being the first two schools for the deaf established over 200 years
ago, New York School for the Deaf and American School for the
Deaf were invited to participate. Emcee, Jeffrey Bravin, shared
memorable photos and videos from the year of 200th Anniversary
celebrations that took place at each school.
NYSD students also had the opportunity to share a
heartwarming skit honoring an important milestone
in the School's rich history.
The skit commemorated the admittance of NYSD’s
first three students, on May 12, 1818. One of the first
three students was a young Mary Rose: Fanwood
Graduate and influential, Deaf , female leader.
Congratulations to our students, for a job very well
done!
Thank you to NAD, ASD, and Connecticut
Association for the Deaf, for giving us the
opportunity to share our treasured history!
