In compliance with the New York State Art Standards,
students are expected to have opportunities to create,Â
perform, respond and connect to the arts. Also in the New York State Standards,
is the expectation that students will be exposed to a variety of arts content
including: theater, visual arts, dance and music.
In order to promote alignment with the arts, enhance students’ art experiences, and further
develop the S.T.E.A.M. vision, Fanwood partnered with teaching artists to provide an arts-rich
experience for our students.

as we have been learning about whale calls and acoustics in science, as well as
engineering and the principals of matter, this activity helped my students connect those topics in a cross-
curricular and S.T.E.A.M. oriented way
