Welcome, New Staff!
JOSHUA LOEFFEL
Director of Special Programs
Josh started at NYSD this past October as the Director
of Special Programs. He comes to us from the Brewster
Central School District, and also worked at Lavelle
School for the Blind.
He has a MA in Deaf Education and a BA in History, with
a minor in music. Josh also has an advanced graduate
certificate in Educational Learning.
CARY NEMEROFF
Technology Teacher
Cary joined the Fanwood Family in October as our
Technology teacher. He has a MA in Deaf Education
and a BA in Philosophy and Hebrew and Judaic
Studies.
Cary has also worked with children with Cerebral
Palsy. When not at NYSD, he runs and owns a Martial
Arts, Fitness and Yoga business.
SHIRAN ZHAVIAN
Data, Assessment, and Testing Specialist
Shiran has a MS in Chemical Engineering and a BS in
Chemistry. She previously worked as a Stem Cell
Therapy Lab Technologist at New York Blood Center.
Shiran was a substitute at Fanwood during the 2017-
2018 school year.
In October of 2018 she became the Data,
Assessment, and Testing Specialist at New York
School for the Deaf.
