Will you marry me?” Despite her doubts about the role of Hazel in her TV appearance, she handled the part utterly professionally. “If I get butterflies, it’s something I’ll fight for” is her down to earth approach to acting. “She is that truly unique actress who can make even bad dialogue sound good,” says director Alexander Payne. Which is good news for the filmmakers. In 2015, Woodley reprised her role as Tris in The Divergent second instalment in the series. The film was commercially successful, making nearly US$100 million on its worldwide debut and grossed US$295.2 million worldwide. Her performance once again received critical acclaim, with Daniel M. Kimmel of New England Movies Weekly writing that Woodley “continues to be someone to watch.” Woodley watchers won’t have long to wait. Shailene has already started filming for her next venture – a new role for a TV series working with her role model Nicole Kidman and other big names such as Reese Witherspoon. The new show is called Big Little Lies.
