OODLEY
ask one burning question, the way Hazel
does in The Fault in Our Stars, she responds
with: “Anaïs Nin! Will you marry me?”
Despite her doubts about the role of
Hazel in her TV appearance, she handled
the part utterly professionally. “If I get
butterflies, it’s something I’ll fight for” is
her down to earth approach to acting.
“She is that truly unique actress who
can make even bad dialogue sound good,”
says director Alexander Payne.
Which is good news for the filmmakers. In 2015, Woodley reprised her role as
Tris in The Divergent second instalment in
the series. The film
was commercially
successful, making
nearly US$100 million
on its worldwide debut
and grossed US$295.2
million worldwide.
Her performance once
again received critical acclaim,
with Daniel M. Kimmel of New
England Movies Weekly writing
that Woodley “continues to be
someone to watch.” Woodley
watchers won’t have long to wait.
Shailene has already started
filming for her next venture – a
new role for a TV series working with her role model Nicole
Kidman and other big names
such as Reese Witherspoon.
The new show is called
Big Little Lies. And however,
it turns out, the whole
world, her dearly
beloved Earth,
can expect
nothing less
than more
straight
talking
from
Hollywood’s
newest
‘high
plain
dealer’. n
