that represents the school and being able to use my fun energy for it !”
The main negative of being a mascot that is reverberated between the group , is that it gets really hot and sweaty and the heavy suit has limited visibility and spatial awareness . Most people do not realize that wearing a wool suit with a helmet you can ’ t drink out of for four hours can be very cumbersome and one mascot says she “ wishes people would be more understanding when we have to take a two to three minute break to catch our breath or get a drink of water .”
Mostly , they all agree they want you to interact with them because one of the main reasons they are a mascot is that they love interacting with people . There is nothing better than fans taking pictures , giving high fives , dancing alongside , and playing it up with them . Mascots tend to get a lot more attention when their team is winning , but they say a photo with a mascot can cheer a fan up too when the team isn ’ t doing so well .
This year all the mascots have some fun things planned for their fans . Malakoff will not have a full-time mascot , but the Tiger will make an appearance throughout the season . Adie Allbright who is AHS ’ varsity mascot Hadley Hornet and Drum Major , is trying to convince her band director and coach to allow her to perform her drum major duties whilst dressed as a large bug . Quite a few mascots will be donning some new themed costumes throughout the year .
So when you see your mascot , make sure you join in their fun , snap a photo , and give a fist bump to these awesome embodiments of school spirit .
