Jorja Armijo-Brasher, Director Fall 2016 Dear Caregivers & Friends: v Supplement Social Security v Purchase A New Home v Pay Off Your Mortgage Or Other Debts 897-4900 I am happy to know that you have the latest edition of this valuable resource. Caregiving presents a variety of rewards and challenges. This guide is meant to assist those who play the role of caregiver for someone. I hope that you find the information contained in these pages of the 2017 Family Caregiver Resource Guide helpful. Many of us do not think of ourselves as caregivers. In reality, many of us play that role. Each day, citizens of Albuquerque assist elders, people who are suffering from an illness or individuals who have a disability. Some of us voluntarily assumed the responsibility of caregiving, while others had no other choice but to assume that role. I understand that although many rewards come with that role, there are also some challenges. Caregiving requires a lot of energy and can sometimes lead to exhaustion, stress, and depression. This resource is meant to help lessen some of these conditions.  Supplement Social Recently, I became familiar with Hidden Security Heroes. The mission of this wonderful organization is to bring vital attention to the untold stories of military caregivers and seeks solutions for the tremendous challenges and long-term needs that they face. The City of Albuquerque has recently become a Hidden Heroes city, and we hope to continue to raise the awareness of the issues that confront military caregivers on a daily basis. I would encourage you to visit www.hiddenheroes.org to learn more.  Purchase A New Home As always, please accept my sincere “thank you” toor each of Other you who play the role of a  Payoff your Mortgage Debts caregiver.
