I can ’ t see myself with 40-50 horses .” Well in tune with the times , she ’ s a pro at handling social media , especially Instagram . “ I love sharing , doing stories , adding little effects .”
You can tell she ’ s passionate and takes great care of her horses . “ My horses are brushed twice a day . They all graze after their shower .” After that , there ’ s the rest to think about . “ I haven ’ t had enough time for the sales . By focusing too much on the horses , I sometimes forget to engage with clients .” In this industry , engaging with clients is key to achieving her dreams : “ Winning the Prix de Diane would be wonderful ,” she answers immediately . “ And the Arc de Triomphe , of course .” While waiting for a horse of that caliber , “ winning a Listed race would already be amazing . You have to dream big !”

Galorama : What is your background and how does the family transition take place ?
Jean-Daniel Manceau : My grandfather was a high-level show jumper who competed in Nations Cups . Finding it challenging to make a sustainable living from this , he transitioned into training NH horses , achieving great success with several Gr . 1 victories at Auteuil . My father , on the other hand , was a jockey before becoming a trainer in 1999 . As far back as I can remember , I ’ ve been walking through stables . I started riding at a very young age and interned with notable trainers like Jean-Claude Rouget and Emmanuel Clayeux , among others . I also interned in ARQANA ’ s bloodstock department , which sparked my passion for sales . I ’ m deeply grateful to Guillaume Cousin and Ludovic Cornuel who taught me so much . Additionally , I had the opportunity to work with Qatar Racing in England and spent a year in Australia with Godolphin .
G : What inspires you most about your family ’ s accomplishments ?
JDM : It was only a small-category race , but I am especially proud of winning as a jockey for my father ’ s training stable and under my mother ’ s colors . The horse , Repel Ghost , was one I had spotted while at Jean-Claude Rouget ’ s and later purchased myself .
G : A characteristic you ’ ve inherited from your family ?
JDM : My mother is highly dedicated to everything she does and I think
I ’ ve inherited that trait . Regardless of the type of sale , I ’ m there from the first to the last lot . I never tire of it .
G : What are your goals for your work ?
JDM : Alongside developing the commercial aspect of " Capucines ", we founded Capucines Bloodstock with Éric Puerari and Michel Zerolo . We increasingly collaborate in France and the United States .
G : Recently , we ’ ve seen a surge in prices . What ’ s your view of the current market ?
JDM : I ’ m pleased to see prominent players competing . It has reinvigorated the market , positively impacting lower tiers as well . It also benefits French sales , as investors unable to buy in the UK now turn their attention to France .
G : Is it easy for the younger generation to establish themselves in the breeding and sales industry ?
JDM : It takes time to build a reputation , but with hard work and visibility , it ’ s achievable . I find the people in this field quite supportive . I ’ ve benefited greatly from the openness and guidance of professionals .
G : Do you use digital tools to aid your work ?
JDM : I frequently use Equineline app , which provides access to global catalogs online . It ’ s indispensable , but ultimately , nothing compares to seeing the horse in person .
