Friedrich Nietzsche had a profound influence on contemporary intellectual and philosophical history . His four-legged namesake , Nietzsche Has , will also try to make his mark on breeding .
Vente d ’ Été ARQANA 2023 , a Closed auction in Yard B
The colt from Carlos de Souza , founder of Hamel Stud , caught the eye of Alban Chevalier du Fau , who has been preparing him at Angers before presenting him for sale under his banner , The Channel Consignment . Edward James , initially attending the sales without any intention to buy , was charmed by the sculptural chestnut . What followed ? A first bid of € 150,000 , and a final winning bid of € 240,000 , which also set a historic top price for a two-year-old store at the auction . Bloodstock agent Guy Petit made the final call , betting on this colt to become the first son of Zarak to stand at stud for steeplechasing . However , these gentlemen weren ' t the only ones eyeing the colt : Aliette Forien and Sybille Gibson , both situated in the same yard , followed his every visit with enthusiasm . A call a year later turned desire into reality . Edward James , passionate about breeding and coming from the world of Cob competitions , recently invested in several race broodmares under Highbourne Stud and is looking for a stud farm to house his stallion and mares . He calls the first name on his list , Haras de Montaigu ... Today , he dreams of the future cross between Nietzsche Has and his founding mares .
Auteuil , 2024
It was on the Mortemart Hill that Nietzsche Has continued to turn heads . Even more impressive physically and showing a remarkable aptitude for jumping , the Marcel Rolland trainee , associated with Ludovic Philipperon , ended his career with a second-place finish in the Prix Cambacérès ( Gr . 1 ), after taking second place in the Prix Georges de Talhouet-Roy ( Gr . 2 ) and winning the Prix Aguado ( Gr . 3 ). " It ’ s the meeting of a lineage of flat champions and a lineage of jumping champions ," comments Edward James . On the paternal side , Zarak comes from the illustrious Aga Khan family of Zarkava and is currently among the European leaders in terms of winners and black-type winners over hurdles . On the maternal side , his mother is by the top stallion Martaline . His second dam , by the remarkable Mansonnien , who has only three stallions in France carrying his bloodline , hails from the exceptional near family of the champion Nirvana du Berlais . Described as one of the most sought-after jumping stallions in 2025 , Nietzsche Has is set to stand at a fee of € 7,000 .

DATA RACING : WHY SHOULD PERFORMANCE BE MEASURED
Data has become an essential part of the sports world , and horse racing is no exception to this revolution . Today , it is possible to track every horse ' s performance with unprecedented accuracy , at every stride . This paradigm shift is simply unavoidable , and those who don ' t embrace it risk being left behind .
Change is inevitable : Data replaces impressions
For racing actors - owners , bettors , breeders , trainers - this represents a major upheaval . Visual and subjective impressions are now giving way to concrete , quantified data . We ' re talking about speed , consistency , endurance , but also strategy and responsiveness . All these elements now allow for the prediction of a horse ’ s true capability , with newfound rigor that rivals other sports .
