Continuing she said that “You don’t have
to take your mouth and tell a child that
you’re unloved or unworthy but whatever
they feel and start building their senses
of self-worth on, those messages have
to be clear. So for me, it’s been rough
because unlike mothers who embraced
this or had a different background, I’m
pretty aggressive and rough and lots of
work to be done,” she confessed.
“
When God is introduced in the picture you see a change.
change on the other side,” she testified.
Asked how home tasks such as preparing
meals and helping the boys with
homework are accomplished, Kiki with
the help of her husband, work nonstop.
“I get up in the morning, the kids have to
go to school, I look after their breakfast, I
pack their lunch pans, I straightened up
the house, do house work. If I have other
things to do, on the computer I might
do that. and then I get to work, regular
routine, I get back home, daddy and I
ensure homework is done, dishes to be
washed, dinner to be cooked and then
we do that all over again,” she shared
matter-of-factly.
“My journey as a mother as it stands
now, it is the most important thing and I
don’t want to sound cliché but what’s so
important about it for me are the correct
messages to my children, because as an
adult and as a mother I live by this and I
say it all the time that the messages that
you learn that you didn’t know you learnt
are the hardest messages to unlearn,”
she explained.
”
Nevertheless, the devoted mother is
determined to keep working on herself.
“As I keep working on myself, whatever
I’ve done I have to keep making amends,
and teaching my sons, the correct way to
do stuff,” she reasoned. “So I think that
as a mother my biggest message is to
never stop working on me so that I can
be a great example to my children. I can
break whatever cycle; I don’t want the
cycle to continue. I don’t want my son to
be aggressive to his children and then be
aggressive to theirs.”
