7 EXCITING THINGS KIDS CAN DO THIS
Summer

Plant a tomato!
Plant tomato, green
pepper, scotch bonnet
pepper or other food item
in pots and watch them
grow over the duration of
the summer. Kids will get
a practical and symbolic
interpretation of the principle
that "you reap what you
sow". Plus it’s easy! You can
buy suckers from the Rural
Agricultural
Development
Authority RADA, other state
agency or buy the seeds in
store. Furthermore there are
plenty how to guides and
resources online. Give it try!

Create a
video blog,
documentary
or journal for
the summer.
Ask your kids to observe
events and activities and
list specific things that they
were happy and sad about
each week. Then encourage
them to talk about it on
a phone camera or write
about it in their blog. In so
doing, kids get to practice
processing their feelings in a
constructive manner and you
as parent get a little closer
to them emotionally. All they
will need is access to a phone
with a video camera. There
should also be very clear rules
about what can and cannot
be posted on the Internet. At
the end of the summer, kids
can use their happiest and
saddest moments to create a
video documentary or news
report of their summer for
family viewing.

Go to the
beach as often as possible.
Family and Faith Magazine continues to love French
Man's Cove, Turtle Towers and several other calm and clean
beach getaways across the island. It's simply not summer if you
don’t go to the beach! If you or your kids can’t swim, investing
in private swimming lessons this summer could make beach or
pool days so much more fun!resources online. Give it try!
