JPS A BEST PRACTICE
IN VOLUNTEERISM
“Giving back and
volunteering provide one
with the opportunity to
make long lasting impact.
It’s not about expecting
something in return, it’s
about making a change.”
These passionate sentiments
are from JPS Customer Care
Representative,
DeOmar
Manning, who was recently
hailed as the 2014 JPS
Foundation Top Volunteer for
his consistent contributions to
the company’s community
and nation building efforts, at
the Foundation’s second
annual Volunteer Awards on

His win cemented the
company’s strong emphasis
on community involvement
and volunteerism, which
gained national recognition on
December 1 when JPS was
named the Private Sector
Awardee for Outstanding
Volunteerism from the Council
of Voluntary Social Services.
Manning’s views are shared

In a September 2014 video
interview with the Gleaner,
Ms. Tomblin defined the “soul of
JPS” in terms of her VOLTS and
this culture of volunteerism
that is nurtured within the
company.
“As I got to know the people
who work at JPS, the story I
was hearing on the outside,
didn’t match what I was
seeing and feeling on the
inside – and that was the love
and care of 1,700 people that
I am proud to lead.”
“Corporate Social Responsibility
is about being intimate with
our
communities
and
showing who we are. A lot of
our giving is employee giving
and I’ve seen such an
outpouring of love and giving
that will forever change the
face of JPS. It is clear that we
are making a difference in the
lives of many and are fulfilling
our Vision and Mission which
partly charges us to “unleash
prosperity and improve lives,”
Ms. Tomblin notes.
