n the last edition of Family and Faith Magazine we featured a story on the late
young footballer Dominic James. His parents David and Denese poignantly
shared that “We will be re-united with Dominic,” a sentiment that goes to the
heart of faith in Christ Jesus; it speaks to the confidence and great hope that there
is life on the other side of the grave. Here is part of what they told us:
David and Denese: Our faith, along with the prayers of many faithful
persons, has certainly upheld us from the very first moment of his
passing. Without it we would not be able to share this testimony.
Although we have not fully come to grips with his departure, God has
definitely been our supporter, comforter and burden-bearer. Words fail
us. It is at this time that we learn the importance of establishing your
faith so that when the hard times come we can stand. (I Peter 5:10).
Additionally, we have the assurance that we will be re-united with
Dominic (II Samuel 12:23(last sentence) “I will go to him, but he will not
return to me.” Thank you to all who have been praying for our strength
your prayers are being answered. Please continue to intercede on our
behalf, as it is a very challenging journey.
Our beloved readers were touched by their testimony and shared their thoughts
and prayers with us:

Thank you Denese and David for sharing a part of your painful story and with such
dignity and encouragement. I believe that in the painful loss of your beloved son, God is
using this story to reach many others, which is quite a price but what a powerful way for
Dominic's life to be an eloquent sermon to those who are still listening. Praise God. This will
be the first Christmas without him and we who still carry you in our hearts are committed to
praying for you that God will strengthen you both as you continue to grieve and celebrate at
the same time, your beloved son. David and Denese, the God you serve is an awesome God
and He will sustain you and grant you exceeding abundantly more than you could ask or
think. We love you and God bless you richly. – C. Bailey
