CULINARY WORKSHOPS REGISTRATION
In partnership with Cucinato Italian Culinary Studio,
Villa Charities presents a series of unique culinary workshops,
with a distinct Italian flair! All workshops are interactive and
provide an opportunity for students to make their own meal on
an individual stove. Workshops will include a communal meal to
enjoy your culinary creations with the other participants. Registration is complete when the registration form and payment
have been received and processed by the Arts, Youth & Culture
Department. Classes will not begin until registration is complete.
Instructor: Franco Berti is an Italian-born and raised, Toronto–
based chef/pizzaiolo and visual artist. Uniquely influenced by the
Italian and Toronto gastronomical culture, Franco currently works
at popular Italian eatery, Nodo Restaurant.

“If you want to learn how to eat, go learn where the priests
are.” Rome and Lazio form a large region whose cuisine is as
varied as its residents drawing from a history of popular and
peasant tradition with Mediterranean, Jewish and Tuscan
influences. Specialties include fried artichokes, pizza Ebraica
d’erbe, spaghetti all’Amatriciana and puttanesca, cacio e pepe,
supplì, spicy salami and seafood. Save your appetite for this
metropolitan feast! Well known for having one of Italy’s best wine regions and
establishing the roots of Vermouth, this region is synonymous
with Gorgonzola, Taleggio, Grissini torinesi, Ferrero Nutella,
savoiardi and zabaglione cream. Join us for an evening
sampling wholesome, rich and extremely tasty Piemontese
specialties including vitello tonnato, risotto, agnolotti, truffles
and many more dishes from the “land at the foot of the
mountains.”

The balmy Mediterranean island of Sicilia has a distinct
multicultural cuisine: it’s colourful, sweet, hearty and aromatic,
making use of ingredients like fruits, rice, saffron, raisins, tuna,
veal, caponata of vegetables, ricotta and Pecorino cheese. Join
us for a menu filled with favourites like cous cous Trapanese,
cavatelli con ricotta, cannoli and many more.
