Cons
“ I would describe sports as flexible, challenging and fun”- Athena Luo
Even though there are multiple positives to joining sports teams, there are a few downsides to it. One of the downsides is having to catch up on work. Since you leave class early to go to games, you are taking away learning time and opportunities to finish work. You must also be aware that for most sports, there is mostly going to be a tournament on a Saturday. This causes you to have to take time away from working on school. Another downside of being on a sports team is risking injury. When playing sports, it is normal to have injuries, but if you are very scared of getting hurt, sports aren’ t for you. Most school team sports injuries are minor, but it’ s not promising that the injury won’ t be major. When joining a sports team, you must think about the negatives like injuries, less time to focus on work and pressure. Going against other teams can create pressure and stress, but it is normal.
SLAS sports teams can be really fun, and many students can agree. Even though there are many benefits of being on a sports team, there are a few downsides that you should be aware of.
