Model United Nations:
It’ s Better Than You Think
Whenever I bring up MUN, what people a with it are words like“ boring,”“ useless,”“ tedious.” I understand their approach, but I think otherwise.

Model United Nations. Maybe something more like:
Mid, Uninteresting, and Not fun at
At least that’ s what my friends say:“ Why would you waste your precious time to prioritise such a wasteful, boring, exasperating club?” As someone experiencing the merits and hardships of this sophisticated club, here are my honest opinions:
MUN:

Maddeningly
MUN is supposed to model the actual UN, in which politicians represent their country, meet together, and discuss serious and pressing issues that raid the world of their peace. So in order to envision such a professional committee, research is necessary; you could get away with making a bad speech, but you could never get away with not researching( as I learnt the hard way – it still gives me PTSD). And the research needed is quite tedious, if I do say so myself – reading tens of pages of research, conducting extra necessary research, preparing and revising memorable speeches, writing creative, detailed solutions … the list goes on.
So as for first-timers, MUN might have such a boring and tedious impression – after all, as the cherry on top, the first seven-or-so meetings are boring but essential lectures about the structure of MUN, so naturally people had enough of this after 6 hours of pure study. And all the interest of MUN might have just gotten wiped out in these months, and all you’ re left of your perception is your boredom.
