Fairview
Located along Highway 69 in northern Cullman County , this area was first settled in the 1840s and was originally named Lawrence Chapel after the local Methodist Episcopal Church . The town was later known for a popular summer resort . The town ’ s park features a walking trail , playground and acres of room for free play . The town is also working on adding soccer fields . Garden City
Located in both Cullman and Blount counties , Garden City is was the second planned city by Col . Johann Cullmann . Cullmann bought land bordering the railroad and name the area Garden City for its lush vegetation . Some of the earliest settlers of the new town were evacuees of Chicago ’ s great fire in 1871 .
