Good Hope
southern boundary is developing a new modern senior center . The new facility will be an ADA-compliant center that will anchor the northwest corner of the city ’ s C . W . Day Park . In addition , the city recently built a new civic center and is developing out hundreds of acres of new parkland .
Towns :
Baileyton
Located in Northeast Cullman County , Baileyton is the namesake of Robert Bailey , one of the first homesteaders in the area in 1870 . The town park features ball parks , a playground and walking trail , and a horse arena is the site of many Cullman County horse shows .
Stop inside town hall to see a collection of miniature replicas of the town ’ s buildings . Craftsman Orby Shedd ’ s replicas , built from memory out of recycled scrap material , depict early life of settlers in the area .
Berlin
Cullman County ’ s newest town , Berlin is a great place to pop into to find fresh produce at the town ’ s pop-up Farmers ’ Market . Along with the regularly scheduled market day of Saturday from 7 a . m . - 3 p . m ., growers can show up any time at the market to sell their fresh produce . Even if it ’ s not a market day , it ’ s worth a visit to pop into Martin ’ s Doors and Millworks or the Berlin Hardware and Farm Supply , or travel a few more miles down the road to the Duck River Reservoir .
Colony
This historically Black community is rich in history . The cemetery is on the state ’ s Historic Cemetery Register and includes the graves of ex-slaves Enoch Montgomery , 1824-1894 , his wife Marie Montgomery , 1811- 1914 and their daughter , Kizzie Montgomery Leeth , who was born into slavery in 1861 and died in 1956 at the age of 95 . The oldest grave is George Griffith who died in 1885 . The Colony library , located in the Education Center , also includes a history of the town and its people .
