Clarkson Covered Bridge
1240 County Road 1043
One of the most picturesque locations in Cullman County , the 270-feet Clarkson Covered Bridge was once used by farmers and travelers to cross Crooked Creek . The lattice-truss construction bridge is closed to traffic and is now the centerpiece of a park built in period fashion to showcase the bridge and its historical significance .
On June 25 , 1974 , Clarkson Covered Bridge was named to the National Register of Historic Places . Shortly thereafter , in 1975 , the Cullman County Commission restored the site with the help of concerned citizens as part of the American Bicentennial Project .
The park is a popular site for outdoor weddings or photography sessions , and its walking trails , picnic sites , historic markers , and restored sluice-powered water wheel offer plenty of ways to get outdoors for some of the county ’ s best photo opportunities .
