Duck River Reservoir
Hikers , bikers , and bird watchers alike can utilize the 21.8 miles of unpaved multi-use trails surrounding the reservoir . The trail was designed to complement the natural landscape , making the trails accommodating for humans and wildlife alike . Mile markers are posted along the trails , indicating your location . Bathrooms , piers , and rest areas are stationed throughout the park . Regardless of which parking area visitors set out from , they will be able to circle the entire lake on foot or bike thanks to the two pedestrian bridges that span the north and south ends of the reservoir .
Anglers can wet their lines from dawn until dusk on Duck River , which is stocked with healthy numbers of largemouth and spotted bass , bream , channel catfish , and crappie . While the bass are catch and release only at this time , each day anglers may take up to 30 crappies over 9 inches , 20 bluegills and shellcrackers , and an unlimited number of catfish . Many anglers find the lake to be an ideal kayak fishing destination for its tranquility . To keep it this way , only vessels with 25 horsepower and under are allowed to access the lake . Those who wish to access the lake by watercraft may use the East Side public boat launch located on County Road 1647 , or a second launch point on County Road 1670 .
Fishing at Duck River does require a permit that can be obtained for free at one of the two boat ramps .
