The more we justify what we are doing, the more our conscience is seared, and the more dangerous our situation becomes. I Timothy 4:1-2 states: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.” I have seen pastors in the pulpit, preaching with fire and anointing. One would never guess that the man was living in adultery and planning, even as he preached, to leave his wife for another woman. How could he do that? His conscience has been seared through many acts of justifying his sins. Pretty soon, he believes his own lies. Pretty soon, he sees nothing wrong with what he is doing. He has explained it all away. Deception! 2 Timothy 3:13 – “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

God does not call preachers out of the ministry and into psychology. It is the other way around. He called me out of psychology and into the ministry. I have studied clinical psychology. Does the fact that I walked away from it not make you question why? I have found a success rate far beyond my wildest expectations, outside of psychology, depending solely upon God’s methods. God loves us so much. He has shown me a much better way—the Word of God, the oil of the anointing, the gifts of the Spirit, and the renewing of the unregenerate mind.
