President ’ s message
2023 / 2024 Board of Directors
WELCOME TO FALL , hard to believe that a month has passed since we held the 2023 Annual Training Session and General Meeting . The conference was a huge success , attendance was high and not only were the training sessions informative and relevant to the issues facing our members today , but it was nice to network with colleagues at great social events . At the Annual General Meeting , several members ran for a seat on the Board of Directors , and I would like to thank those who put their name forward . I would also like to congratulate returning board members John Mattocks , Justin Harris , and Randy Charlton .
It was particularly nice to see members stand up to help shape the Association and reflecting over the past year , we have seen an overall increase in interest in our Association . Membership increased to 3,231 members , 541 more than last year . 51 members received certification , a 270 % increase from last year . 26 members received long service awards , a 136 % increase from last year . In addition , throughout the past year , like some recent concert ticket sales , our training sessions filled within days and in some cases hours of registration opening .
Moving forward , the board and committees will be working on several initiatives . One initiative in particular we will be focusing on is our strategic plan , where amongst various items , we will be looking at succession planning . Therefore , if you are interested in volunteering on a committee and helping set the course of the Association , please reach out to a board member for information on opportunities to participate .
And for those who were not able to attend this year ’ s conference , don ’ t fret , next year ’ s conference in London is shaping up to be one of the best , but based on recent trends , when registration opens , I encourage you to sign up early !
On behalf of the Board of Directors , we are saddened by the recent passing of our dear friend and one of the founding members of this great association , Clarence “ Roy ” Bridge and we would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to his friends and family .
It continues to be an honour to serve you as President . I look forward to the work ahead . With this Fall Edition of the MLEOA Summit being the last of 2023 , I wanted to take a moment to wish you , your family , and friends a very Happy and Safe Holiday Season and we will see you in the New Year !
Yours truly ,
Doug
