After retreating to the backwoods of Idaho, she emerged in recent years as a political activist and the subject of the Tony Award-winning Broadway show, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. In her book, author, Jane Eisner, places Carole King’ s life in historical and cultural context, drawing on numerous interviews as well as historical and contemporary sources to bring to life King’ s professional accomplishments, personal challenges, and, together with the outstanding vocals of Susan Greenbaum, her lasting contribution to the great American songbook.

We are honored to welcome Beejhy Barhany Executive chef of Tsion Café and author of the new cookbook Gursha, Timeless Recipes for Modern Kitchens, from Ethiopia, Israel, Harlem, and Beyond. Beejhy will offer a cooking demo and discussion about Beta Israel traditions and experiences while we enjoy samples from the book!
