Fall 2025 LA Contractor Connection | Page 3

The whole purpose of our work is to help small local contractors succeed and to illustrate how the CDABP assists in this goal, we have included several contractor success stories.
First, on page 12, we profile INSSKI Construction, whose co-owner, Dawid Komodzinski, found out about MWIS and the CDABP by doing a random Google search. Once he completed the online enrollment form, our team reached out to learn how we could be of support. We helped him obtain bonding and assisted him in winning multiple contracts with the County of Los Angeles.
Our second story, on page 20, shows how the CDABP assisted a contractor in earning a spot as a pre-qualified prime contractor on a Los Angeles World Airports( LAWA) Multiple Award Task Order Contract( MATOC). On page 32, our third story is about a contractor who submitted the lowest bid on LA Metro work, resulting in large cost savings for the agency and the public. Finally, page 34, we share details about an innovative City of L. A.“ community level contracting” program that creates prime contracting opportunities for small and local firms.
Our CDABP / MWIS in the News section on page 37 provides links to a number of media articles featuring our work and programs, including two in-depth media interviews of Ingrid Merriwether about her career, MWIS’ efforts, and the impact of contractor development and bonding programs.
On page 38, our CDABP By the Numbers section offers summary data to help show the impact of our work in areas such as the numbers of contractors enrolled, education and training sessions offered, sponsor workshops provided, prime partners, instances of technical assistance, as well as the dollar values of CFAP loans issued, bid bonds issued, and the direct cost savings to program sponsors.
Through the LA Regional CDABP, MWIS continues to collaborate closely with our three participating municipalities to create an ecosystem that removes barriers that have prevented small and local contractors from accessing infrastructure construction contracts. With the support of the City of L. A., L. A. Metro, and the County of L. A., MWIS will continue to play a key role in implementing policies, practices and programs that benefit our participating contractors and overall region.
We encourage small contractors in the Los Angeles region to reach out to us to explore what the free services offered by the CDABP can do to help you grow your business and expand into public works contracting. If you are a local agency interested in creating more opportunities for local small and emerging contractors, please contact us.
