LAWA OUTREACH
Program( CDABP), which MWIS administers on behalf of the City of Los Angeles( including LAWA), L. A. Metro, and the County of Los Angeles.
Karim Webb, President of the Board of Airport Commissioners( BOAC), which oversees LAWA, said that their agency is“ committed to inclusivity and partnerships.” LAWA officials said the goals for the procurement were 30 percent small business enterprises( SBEs), 15 percent local business enterprises( LBEs), and 3 percent disabled veteran business enterprises( DVBEs).
At a packed auditorium, LAWA officials explained that the request for proposals( RFP) process had produced a list of 31 pre-qualified prime contractors. One of event attendees was J-Squared General Contractors Inc., an active participant in the CDABP who earned a spot on that list.
The MWIS team assisted LAWA in signing in hundreds of attendees.
J-Squared project manager Steven Ross noted that his firm’ s insurance broker had initially referred J-Squared to MWIS and that“ the MWIS team not only explained the MATOC, but helped us navigate the procurement bidding process, and detailed how they could help us secure bonding for the MATOC with collateral support from the City of L. A.” MWIS’ assistance played a vital role in J-Squared making LAWA’ s list of pre-qualified primes.
To assist in meeting LAWA’ s inclusion goals, many outside booths were staffed by representatives from the pre-qualified primes, such as J-Squared, who met with aspiring subcontractors. Interested subcontractors also met one-on-one with prime representatives via pre-scheduled appointments.
Attendees learned from MWIS staff about how the CDABP can assist them on LAWA and other public agency projects.
