Optimize your giving!

A parent calls us after finding us online because their toddler is going to be evaluated, or has just been diagnosed, and they have no idea where to start. We gather resources and support for their family.

A mom searches the internet on her phone from her child's hospital bedside, and calls us crying, feeling unheard by the treatment team who has tried to address a serious, daily medical problem for more than three years. She asks for our help in communicating to her child's medical team about how autism complicates medical issues, and how the child’s sensory problems and trauma negatively impact treatment. We attend the meeting virtually, state the problems from our objective perspective, and get her additional resources in the hospital system.

A law enforcement officer calls us from downtown; he is with a man who says "I have a toy gun at home. If I bring it back and wave it around, will you talk to me? I don't have any other friends to talk to. Would you be my friend?" We locate the man's supports coordinator, who finds out he has lost his housing and has not gotten any mail, disconnecting him from services. The supports coordinator reconnects him to services, shores up his housing, and reduces his loneliness and risky behavior.

Your donations are used to help people find us during emergencies like these, and help provide full access to our services and supports. You can be part of this lifeline - our mission - anytime by clicking this link, or hitting up the Donate button on our website at www.autismofpa.org
