What is your current position ? I am a partner at Pringle & Herigstad Law Firm in Minot , specializing in family law and civil litigation .
What is your hometown , college attended , and law school attended ? I am from Fargo and attended Concordia College , Moorhead , Minn . I have a double major in music and political science . I then graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law .
What professional work did you do before law school ? Nanny , waitress , professional musician ( all while attending school ).
What led you to a career in law ? My parents took in foster children when I was growing up and that had a large impact on me . This led me to a career in family law as well as civil litigation and other advocacy work .
How long have you been on the SBAND Board ? I was recently elected to the SBAND board as representative for the North Central Judicial District and was appointed at the SBAND Annual Meeting in June .
What other involvement have you had with SBAND prior to being on the board ? I am a member of the Ward County Bar Association and previously served as the organization ’ s president .

What is the last book you read ( good or bad )? I ’ ve had Sonia Sotomayor ’ s My Beloved World on my nightstand for quite a while . I think now that my children are a bit older , I will be able to finally finish it !

PUBLIC NOTICE Reappointment of Chief Bankruptcy Judge Shon Kaelberer Hastings Request for Public Comments
The current term of office of Chief Judge Shon Kaelberer Hastings , United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of North Dakota , at Fargo is due to expire on September 8 , 2025 . The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit is considering the reappointment of Chief Judge Shon Kaelberer Hastings to a new term of office and has determined that she appears to merit reappointment subject to public notice and opportunity for public comment .
Upon reappointment , the incumbent would continue to exercise the jurisdiction of a bankruptcy judge as specified in United States Code ; title 28 , United States Code ; title 11 , and the Bankruptcy Amendments and Federal Judgeship Act of 1984 , Pub . L . No . 98-353 , §§ 101-122 , 98 Stat . 333-346 . In bankruptcy cases and proceedings referred by the district court , the incumbent would continue to perform the duties of a bankruptcy judge that might include holding status conferences , conducting hearings and trials , making final determinations , entering orders and judgments , and submitting proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law to the district court .
Members of the bar and the public are invited to submit comments for consideration by the court of appeals regarding the reappointment of Chief Bankruptcy Judge Shon Kaelberer Hastings to a new term of office .
