Contractors may also improve their chances of a successful bid on County projects by attending vendor support events . SLEBs and smaller vendors will be able to get more support and ask questions about the bid process and their specific RFP by attending vendor events including : vendor outreach ( for goods and services only , attendance optional ); bidders conferences ( for goods and services , attendance usually optional ); and pre-bid events ( for construction only , attendance usually required ).
The Alameda County General Services Agency recommends that contractors check their calendar for upcoming events , scheduled vendor outreach , training , site visits , and more .
Streamlined Access : Simplifies the process for vendors to sign up for opportunities within the County of Alameda , reducing administrative burdens for both the County and vendors .
Enhanced Visibility : Provides vendors with increased visibility into upcoming procurement opportunities and contracts within the County of Alameda .

Vendors are also advised to register for required and recommended certifications that are required for a bid , including : Department of Industrial Relations certification ( required for public works construction and public works trucking only ); SLEB certification ( recommended for small , local , and emerging businesses ); and certified green business ( recommended ).
