Dear Readers,
.
We strive to meet all needs presented when people in the autism community reach for help. Sometimes we have not been successful, sometimes we meet parts of a request, and sometimes we are able to find great solutions for those in need. We work to balance offerings for people of all ages, in all stages, with varying abilities, and our work ranges from sharing general autism information to hosting festive events to very in-depth, personalized, and complex solutions.
Over the past 10 years we have seen an increase in help requests from people entangled in the justice system. We need to share these dire situations in e-news and social media to keep them front and center for anyone who can influence these issues from a personal or an official standpoint.
These are scary and tragic situations that literally tear families apart, and while we must fight for systems change publicly, we worry sharing them adds stress to those who are not experiencing these situations. So please hang in there when that happens - we are working to reduce the likelihood of injustice happening to you!
Here's a light note - we plan to share some joy on December 9th when we will have meets and greets with Snow Fairies in one space (with help from Duquesne University students and others) and with Santa for people who like to visit with him. Registration is required and families or friends may take photos with their own cameras and phones so there's little to no waiting, and no charge. This will happen for the first time at our office inside Achieva at 711 Bingham Street, Pittsburgh 15203. Free parking! Sensory friendly! Fidgets! We look forward to seeing some old and new friends then.
Thanks for reading and following us - do let us know what you are wondering about, what you want, or what you need related to autism.
