International Crisis Intervention 2022 Conference
We gathered with 1400 of our " closest Crisis Responder friends " during the last week of August to meet , greet , and share ideas about Crisis Intervention Team Training . With EMT Ethan Puskas , and Lt Eric Kroll , we taught a session about supporting people with autism in crisis situations , resulting in future consulting with Tashima Ricks , of the federal Bureau of Prisons , National Institute on Corrections . We talked with people from Australia , Canada , and about 25 different states , and heard from folks with experience ranging from novice to very expert . Many told us , sometimes in hushed tones , " We talk a lot about mental health issues but nobody in our city talks about autism ."

A few others do focus on autism in their crisis team training , and as is common , these efforts have been spurred by parents of autistic people . We gladly watched people from 31 cities sign up with us for more autism information and training related to crisis response .
Our mission is to be a lifeline and central hub for families and adults , providing support , information , and advocacy . Sharing what we know , and hiring autistic people to teach with us , is right in line with our mission . Additionally , our upcoming PA Developmental Disabilities Council grant will support lots of support and training within Pennsylvania , including that requested by probation and parole officers from the North East corner , to our Philly friends , and many others in between .
We would like to report travel to Australia - really , we would - but that is not happening ! Maybe we can teach people there via Zoom for an hour or two , and have those entities kick in some money for the mission here at home since we are not The Autism Connection of Sydney .
