Should Opposite Sex Be Friends ?

Kids are always confused whether people of the opposite sex can be friends . For instance , a girl might feel awkward playing with a boy and vice versa , and this might cause confusion as to whether one should or should not develop a close relation with the opposite sex . But is that true ? Can boys and girls only be friends when they are old enough to be boy and girlfriend , or is it just a habit that everyone has ?
Boys in my classes do not play with the girls a lot since we share different thoughts about what activities we should do during lunch and Wildcat . Plus , some believe it ’ s strange to hang out with the opposite sex . The boys would prefer gaming and making funny memes during Wildcat and lunch , while the girls like to draw and chat , although sometimes a few would join the boys ’ activities . Kiki Coffman , the author of Thoughcatalog . com , said : “ You want to go out to eat together and people assume you ’ re a couple . Doing things alone , just the two of you isn ’ t weird for either of you , but to your onlookers , you appear to be an exclusive couple .”
On the other hand , some students hold the opposite opinion , , “ we think it is acceptable for boys to be friends with girls because being friends with a different gender does not always mean you are their boyfriend or girlfriend .” Indeed , this is true . For example , although I am friends with a few boys in my grade , it does not mean that I am their girlfriend . Valentina Allegra Fonseca Keshishian , a student in grade 7th said : “ Yes , I think boys can play with girls . No one is better than the other . We all have our personalities and thinking . No one should be better just because it is a boy or a girl instead of a boy . We are all equal but with different personalities . If a boy is better at soccer than a girl , that is great ! But it does not mean all the boys are better .”
Thus , if you want to be friends with your opposite sex , try to ignore the voices behind your back since your defense toward their gossip would result in more gossip . Further , since boys and girls can be friends with each other , more people will start to treat this sort of friendship normally and stop making people feel awkward by asking whether they are dating their friends .
