There are a variety of afterschool sport choices at school that are totally free . These sports provide many benefits to students as they can choose their sport and play in matches . But the question is , should it be mandatory towards all students at the school ?
Afterschool sports include soccer , basketball , volleyball , and more at SLAS . Students attend practices after the school ends usually about two times a week . The school sport teams are also in competitions , meaning students will get a chance to play competitively with other schools . Doing sports is also required for students ’ health . According to cdc . gov , teenagers should have at least an hour of physical exercise daily . Afterschool sports perfectly offer that opportunity with a coach to support at zero cost .

Participation in exercise for teens was associated with decreased anxiety and depression and improved academic performance ; improved parental relationships , increased self-esteem , and decreased anger ; decreased psychological stress ; lower levels of mental health problems ; reduced tobacco , alcohol , and marijuana use ; and satisfaction with mandatory gym classes in school ” ( Valois , 2004 )
