Letter From the Editor
With much happiness , I am excited to write for all of you my first editor ’ s note . Within this quarter , we built our writing and design skills with countless brainstorming and creative ideas . And now we can finally share with you all what we have been working towards . As said beforehand , this is my first year being the editor and writing an editor ’ s note . To be honest , writing an editor ’ s note is not an easy task . And through my research on editor ’ s notes , I think it ’ s important I say the purpose of it : short editor ’ s comment , recommendation , or explanation attached to news reports that grab attentions of the readers . With this in mind , I would like to talk about our SLAS Times team . Within this short first quarter , our team learned to write editorial and hard news articles , the basic skills of InDesign , and more importantly , how to collaborate with each other . The collaboration we built in making this magazine is a credit to our journalism teacher , Mr . Kahler . He helped us to formulate well-designed and engaging articles with interesting photos and artwork , making us more like a team rather than individual students who merely write articles for grades . In past years , the main design was usually done by the course teacher . When I enrolled in this course in my 9th-grade year , I merely viewed journalism as a usual class . Yet , the change we made this year allowed students to be more engaged in creating SLAS magazine . Our SLAS Times team worked hard on creating a perfect magazine for this quarter and to provide diverse thoughts on various topics . Now , I would like to invite you all to read on and view the effort we put into this magazine and I hope you enjoy it !
