PATRICIA R . CASTRO
Patricia R . Castro joined Swanson and Warcup ( S & W ), Ltd . in 2021 as an associate attorney . Her practice areas include family law , immigration , and civil litigation . She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with her bachelor of arts in history and political science . She earned her juris doctor from the University of North Dakota ( UND ) School of Law in 2017 .
Prior to joining S & W , Castro worked as a staff attorney with Legal Services of North Dakota and as an associate attorney with a private firm . During law school , she worked for the Grand Forks Public Defender ’ s Office , the Grand Forks States Attorney ’ s Office , and the UND Equal Opportunity Title IX Office . She was also a certified student attorney with the UND Immigration Law Clinic . She was on the Phi Alpha Delta Mock
Trial Team and the UND School of Law Trial Team . In recognition of her oral advocacy skills , she received the Jack Marcil Scholarship and the Dave and Diane Peterson Litigator ’ s Scholarship .
ELISABETH HEWETT
Elisabeth Hewett is a criminal defense attorney at Sand Law , PLLC . She is licensed in North Dakota and focuses on representing clients in criminal defense matters . She also represents clients with pardons , expungements , and record sealing .
Prior to graduating from the University of North Dakota School of Law , Hewett received her bachelor of science degree in political science and criminal justice from Minnesota State University , Mankato . She graduated with honors while playing Division I women ’ s ice hockey .
Hewett lives in Minot and loves playing golf and hockey . She is passionate about helping people and advocates for individual rights .

Castro currently serves on the board of the North Dakota Bar Foundation , the American Immigration Lawyers Association Law Student Outreach Committee , the North Dakota / Minnesota CPB Committee , and coaches the Phi Alpha Delta Mock Trial Team . She was recently elected as secretary / treasurer of SBAND ’ s Young Lawyers Section and serves as the U . S . Customs and Border Protection liaison for North Dakota / Minnesota .
Castro is based in Grand Forks and enjoys spending her time playing golf , staying active , and remaining engaged in her community . She also enjoys indulging in her many passions such as producing her podcast , traveling , and the Toronto Raptors .
