generally as occurred in a number of courses in the most recent academic year . In addition , “ pandemic fatigue ” and welldocumented health and wellness effects on many people , including law students , over the past 18 months are being discussed by legal educators nationally as being potential contributing factors .
• UND Law ’ s Homecoming this October included a special dedication ceremony for the Gerald W . VandeWalle Courtroom . The renaming of this third-floor courtroom in the School of Law , a space distinctively rich in its history and traditions , occurred in February 2020 at the UND celebration of Justice VandeWalle at the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum in Bismarck . The privilege of making this surprise announcement in the presence of Justice VandeWalle was the most special , single moment and greatest honor I have experienced in my tenure as the dean of UND Law . UND President Andrew Armacost , UND Alumni Association & Foundation CEO DeAnna Carlson Zink , North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Lisa Fair McEvers , and I offered remarks at the dedication in honor of Justice VandeWalle .

NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
Additional announcements were made about the wonderful renovations we are working on with UND and ICON Architects for the VandeWalle Courtroom , which are on target to be completed by late Spring 2022 . The renovation , in part , will include updated technology , an ADA-compliant , accessible jury box , repair work on the walls and ceiling , and new paint , carpet , furnishings , and window treatments ; but the Courtroom will retain the traditional feel and connection between our past , present , and future that makes it such a unique and special place in our School of Law .
I am very excited about the great things ahead for the UND School of Law in my last year of my service as our dean , including my privilege of serving with my bench and bar colleagues on the SBAND Board of Governors . I am also very excited to begin planning for my teaching , scholarship , and service next academic year when I resume my beloved role as “ UND Law Professor McGinniss .”
