About: A member of the Alabama Community College
System, Coastal Alabama Community College is located in south
Alabama with locations in six counties along the coastal plains
and gulf coast of the State. Coastal Alabama Community College
is the second-largest community college in the State in regard to
credit hour production.

Academics: Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate
in Applied Science Degrees, and certificates
Honors Program: The College has three chapters of the Phi
Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society. Many
universities have PTK transfer scholarship opportunities for
students who participate.
Cost of Attendance:
In-State Tuition & Fees: $162.00 per credit hour for in-state
tuition and fees combined.
Room and Board: Up to $5,800 total for fall and spring
semesters depending on the residence hall and meal plan.

events across all campuses throughout the year to give the students
a big college experience with the small college atmosphere.

Types of Housing: Residence halls are available at the Bay
Minette and Brewton campuses.
Clubs: With organizations such as the Ambassadors, Phi
Theta Kappa International Honor Society chapters and multiple
Student Government Associations, students have tons of options
for campus leadership. Additionally, clubs such as the Bass
Fishing Club, the Sci-Fi Club and College Bowl allow students to
network with others who have similar interests.
Study Abroad: Students study internationally while
participating in the SAGE (Study Abroad and Global Education)
program. On past trips, students have traveled to countries such
as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, and France in the
SAGE program.

Cool Factors:
• Each year in Monroeville, a designated stop on the Southern
Literary Trail, the college hosts the Monroeville Literary
Festival. Since 1998, this event has acknowledged writers and
scholars from across the state.
• Fairhope takes to the skies as they host the John L. Borom
Alabama Coastal Birdfest each year. For a week, visitors from
all over the world come to south Alabama to take part in kayak
excursions, birdwatching trails and walking tours to spot some
of the area’s most unique birds.
• Coastal Alabama is the closest community college to the white
sandy beaches of the Alabama Gulf Coast.
School Accolades:
• In 2019, the Phi Upsilon Chapter and the Pi Psi Chapter of PTK
earned a spot in the Top 100 Chapters out of 300 worldwide.
• With programs like Nursing, students know they are getting
what they pay for as they prepare for high wage, high demand
jobs across southwest Alabama and beyond. Coastal Alabama’s
Bay Minette/Fairhope RN program is ranked No. 1 and its
Monroeville/Thomasville RN program is ranked No. 7 in the
State even compared to four-year universities.
• Coastal Alabama’s Paper & Chemical Technology program was
designated by the National Science Foundation as a National
Center of Excellence for pulp and paper technology training.
Also, Coastal Alabama now offers the only Pipefitting program
in the two-year college system in Alabama, located on the
Thomasville campus.
• Coastal Alabama has a new Dynamic Reality Technologies
program on its Fairhope Campus to expose students to virtual
reality, augmented reality and mixed reality Hololens technologies.
