There are so many rules and regulations in the whole of the Bible . But are they kept - each and every one of them ? Of course not , because we are only human . They can be kept by a human , but do we make the effort to know these laws ? Do we make the effort to search them out and strive to live according to them ? Few , very few , of us do so , but it is oh-so-essential to search and learn and live .
Where can one begin ? What about the Commandments ? Very easily taught , but not as easily kept . Starting with the first one , Deuteronomy 5:7 : ? You shall have no other gods before Me .?
Many of us will claim that we have no other gods , but the truth is that we do . These gods creep so suddenly and easily into our lives , thanks to technology and all other influences nowadays . Superficial beauty , perfect weight , perfect body build , keeping up with social media , music , movies , books , friends , food , malls , etc . - anything that takes our eyes off Him . That ? s a god .
How many people can raise their hand and say that they are not just willing to , but also really wanting to start their day with Him , and they actually do so ? It ? s easy to talk , but harder to do . You ? ve started a good book the previous evening . You notice it first thing ? Satan will use that moment to rather make you use your few spare moments to satisfy your god , your love of reading , or whatever else you noticed or thought about .
Does that mean that everything is bad ? There ? s no good in it ? It should be avoided ? Of course not ! I Corinthians 6:12 ( AMP ) says , ? Everything is permissible for me , but not all things are beneficial . Everything is permissible for me , but I will not be enslaved by anything [ and brought under its power , allowing it to control me .]?
I will not be enslaved by anything ; I won ? t make any THING my god . Everything is permissible , but it ? s not necessarily good for us , especially if it leads us away from our Savior .
