Della Female | 1 year old | Coonhound
Hello ! My name is Della ! I am a super sweet and fun girl ! I came to WSHS with a chorus of coonhound siblings . We lived outside our entire lives , so the whole indoor thing is a new deal for us . Hopefully you can show me what I ’ ve been missing ! I love to play with toys ! I will play with them by myself or chase it if you throw it !
I am very social , and love to be around people . I am very sweet and gentle with the little ones , and generally respectful of boundaries ( I don ’ t mouth , and rarely jump ). I do not have any resource guarding issues , and I follow the policy of what is mine , is yours ! You will have no trouble getting items from me I have accidentally mistaken as a chew toy ! I LOVE dogs and need one in my new family to pal around with when our people are gone . I cannot live with a cat , not because I don ’ t like cats , but I get too nosy , and when they run away I chase , thinking it is a fun game for them !
I did live in a foster home for two weeks while we waited for space in the kennel . I was not crated but left on their first floor while my family slept upstairs . I barked a little the first couple of nights , but not after that . I do not have many house manners , so I may counter surf , get in the garbage , or chew on some things until my new family teaches me what is acceptable and not . I do walk well on leash , and I only had one accident in the house , and it was on the first day . Because I am a coonhound , and the breed tends to bark and bay , please keep this in mind if you live in an apartment , townhome or condo , in terms of understanding your noise complaint policies and dog barking / baying / howling policies .

Dodge Male | 11 months old | Coonhound Mix
Hi there , my name is Dodge ! I came to WSHS with a bunch of other coonhounds , from down south . I am probably mixed with something , maybe part elephant , because look at my giant ears ! I can be shy at first , but once I get comfortable , get ready for all the goofiness ! I am a young guy with long gangly legs and a good amount of energy ! I love to jump around and play with toys ! I tend to play with toys just by myself , but I ’ m sure I ’ ll catch on to all the games ( fetch , tug , etc .) very fast .
I LOVE to play with other dogs and need to live with one in my new home . I have never met a dog I didn ’ t like ! I can ’ t live with cats because I like to try and play with them but get frustrated when they don ’ t want to as well and then chase them . I also love to snuggle and get butt scratchies !
While I was waiting for a spot at the kennel , I stayed in a foster home . My foster mom said that when I was crated , I only barked the first few minutes , but then settled down . I only had one accident , which was on the first day . After that , I did not have any more accidents . I did not bay or bark a lot , however because I have some hound in me , I might become louder when I become more comfortable . Keep this in mind if you live in an apartment , townhome or condo . Because of my shyness , it is important that my new family continue my socializing and showing me the dos and don ’ ts around people ! I am very smart and would love to learn some basic obedience as well !
