Support of UND School of Law
In 2019 , the North Dakota Legislature approved a matching grant program [ North Dakota Century Code 15-10-48.1 ] for the UND School of Law on a 2 to 1 basis up to $ 750,000 . That is , the state would provide $ 250,000 if UND could raise $ 500,000 in private funds . The funds were dedicated to creating endowed support for faculty recruitment and retention in the area of energy law and for clinical legal education . In September 2019 , the Board of Directors approved a pledge from the NDBF of $ 50,000 to the UND Foundation in support of the UND School of Law . The pledge will be distributed at $ 10,000 for five years .
Membership and fundraising update
Membership and fundraising efforts resulted in a total NDBF revenue for 2019 of $ 39,128 . These revenues include contributions made through donations during the 2019 annual meeting silent auction , through the dues check-off on the license fee renewal form , memorials and pro bono fund donations , and miscellaneous incomes . Additional income from investments and interest was $ 19,038 .
Pro Bono Fund
The membership of SBAND approved a resolution in 2010 to recommend the NDBF Board of Directors administer the Pro Bono Fund and determine which organizations shall receive funding from amounts held in the Pro Bono Fund . The Board of Directors has authorized Secretary- Treasurer Weiler to distribute the funds annually ( with a $ 1,000 amount retained in the account ).
