Inclusion The Park District of Highland Park strives to serve as the center of the community and to be our residents’ first choice for recreational services. Our adopted policies, procedures, and programs are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Recreation Purpose Statement To provide positive recreational experiences through programs, camps, memberships, drop-in services, private and group lessons, special events, leagues, tournaments, rentals, and other activities which contribute to the individual’s physical, social, emotional, cultural, and educational growth in order to enrich the quality of life. Respect for the dignity and self-worth of every individual shall be of paramount importance. The Park District of Highland Park, along with other community leaders and organizations, is proud to be a part of Character Counts!, a program teaching children the six pillars of character: Citizenship, Caring, Fairness, Respect, Responsibility and Trustworthiness. Children are 27% of our population but 100% of the future. The direction they go depends on us. The Park District of Highland Park wants to help build the character of the next generation! Senior Citizen Discount Resident seniors, 65 and over, are entitled to 15% off the regular registration fee for recreation programs and must show their ID. This does not include excursions, contractual programs, activities at special facilities or special workshops and events. Military Discount Active servicemen and women and their immediate families receive resident rates plus an additional 15% discount on Park District of Highland Park programs, memberships, and daily fees, excluding select contractual programs.
