Eco-Explorers | Grades K-3
Discover the wonders of our fall forest and join us in tinkering
outside, building shelters, finding traces of animals, and
engaging in outdoor investigations. Nature is constantly
changing, so sign up for one, two or all three months of activity.
Program is entirely outdoors so please dress for the weather.

Fall Fishing | Grades 1-6
Bait a hook, cast a line and see what you can catch! Practice
fishing techniques or try pond dipping and delve into a whole
new world. All equipment and instruction provided. Catch and
release only.

Birds, bats, rockets and kites- all of these things can fly. We will
learn about flight by making our own flying contraptions. Each
week will be something different to build and then tested to
see how well we understand the science behind flight.

Tracks, Scat, and Other Facts | Grades 1-6
What starts with an S and ends with a T and comes out of you
and comes out of me? SCAT! Come get the scoop on poop
and the facts on tracks. Examine the clues left behind to
untangle the mystery of what happened in the forest. Learn
about tracking and reading natural clues to figure out what our
animals have been up to. No program Nov 11 & 25.

School’s out? We have you covered! Join us for an actionpacked
day off like never before; filled with exciting activities
and adventure. Each day runs from 9am-3pm. Min/Max is
10/13. Online registration closes at 4pm the day prior to each
day off program. If room allows, day-of registration will be
taken at Heller Nature Center, for a different fee listed below.
Sep 28 | Silly Science and Creations
It’s science of course but just a bit silly. Make glowing smoking
bubbles, write with invisible ink, defy gravity, and more!

Use GPS’ to find each hidden clue, answer riddles, explore
hidden areas, all in search of the final treasure!

Nov 24 | Awesome Animals
Each animal has its own unique adaptations that help it to
survive in the forest of Illinois. Fly with silent hunters, buzz with
sweet sugar makers, dive deep under water with tiny aliens,
and find out more about our mystery animals.
