At Sacred Heart, love undergirds all of the Goals, but Goal V relies especially on its presence. It is in knowing that we are loved that we feel supported in taking on new creative, emotional, and intellectual opportunities, which leads to personal growth. When challenges present themselves, as they inevitably will, knowing that we are loved assures us that we can face obstacles confidently and that we can become stronger and wiser. Opening a preschool has been a significant undertaking for us, but we are thrilled to extend our educational vision to 3- and 4-year-olds (see page 2). We also offer heartfelt greetings to all of our new and returning students in grades 1-8 and their families. We look forward to embracing our present and future together with all of our students and families as well as with our alumnae/i and friends. Inside this combination Heartbeat magazine and Annual Report, you will find articles about the school in addition to lists of people who have generously supported Sacred Heart and the values it teaches. To that point, I would like to share a few words that last year’s Student Council president, Jack Duffy H’19, said in his Prize Day speech: “As we go forward, we will always strive to make you proud of us. While we will certainly make mistakes in the coming years, we will always try to carry ourselves with dignity and humility. …we know that we are fortunate to have been given the gifts of loving parents, teachers, and a great education. We promise not to waste them.” Thank you for helping us to form young men and women of such commitment and awareness. The world needs them, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership in providing an education that nurtures the very best in our young people.
